Awarded as the Breakthrough Artist in the 9th Wish Award this year, Josh Cullen is a man who likes to break through barriers and boundaries. Once called the less creative and talented in their group, he had proven the naysayers wrong. The first half of this year was full of great achievements for Josh. Just recently, he flew to Korea for the Round Festival as a solo artist and had a collaborative stage with H1-KEY, a Korean girl group.
Through the years, Josh has proven that there is no great feat he won't achieve and this one is the same. With every performance he ever had, Josh became better and better at engaging his audience. Young or old, any and all genders, it is almost impossible to resist the charm of the most charismatic member of SB19. His way of connecting with his audience always feels genuine it resonates across the crowd.
But what came as a surprise on his Round Festival was his collab with H1-KEY. Not that the collaboration was a surprise, it had been hinted. The audience, especially his fans, the BBQs and A'tin, waited in anticipation for his set. Both the team Bahay and team Live were excited about what songs he would perform and how he would deliver his chosen songs. We all knew he would do great and still, we all felt the jitters as if it was our own kid or brother who would perform that night.
From his outfit made by a renowned designer, Francis Libiran, to performing his iconic debut single, Wild Tonight, people were in awe of the beauty Josh was blessed with. When his collaboration with the Korean girl group came to action, no one expected to be taken by surprise. Thinkin' About You of H1-KEY got a whole new flavor and it was something we all welcomed and loved.
Josh's part in the song perfectly fit his voice and it brought the soulful side of him. He looked so calm and confident on the Round Festival stage even by himself, and it radiated through the people watching his performance. Him hitting every note, delivering his lines full of emotions, and his eyes speaking every word was like a serenade to a speaking person. His performance with H1-KEY felt like a sincere and heartfelt confession of love. At least that is how it felt for me.
Josh surely had come a long way from the young man he used to be. He is now conquering the world of music and entertainment, proving himself in every country he goes to, and carrying the flag of the Philippines with or without his brothers. This man keeps on making the country proud and there is no stopping him.
