True Blooded Filipino

Mega Entertainment held the Mega Ball 2024 themed with Food and Fashion. As Filipinos, we are known for our natural gift in the kitchen and our historical fashion. For this year's Independence Day celebration, Mega brought two worlds together, and it was an utter success. One of the ball's highlights was SB19's fit for the night. They mixed the traditional barong Tagalog with modern fashion for Josh, Stell, Ken, and Justin, while Pablo graced the night with his own version of baro't saya.

Their rendition of O Bayan Ko, a Maestro Ryan Cayabyab masterpiece with Los Cantantes, Kammerchor, and The Philippine Meistersingers was an emotional take on an already heart-tugging song. It was a fitting song for five individuals whose sole purpose and greatest driving force was their love for their country. The Maestro's patriotic song was commissioned for the centennial of the Republic of the Philippines and was a call to action, urging Filipinos to open their eyes to the true problems of the country. Its message mainly focuses on reminding every Filipino to love and care for the nation.

SB19 gave justice and their own flavor to the song while maintaining the utmost respect for the original arrangement and message. Their heartfelt performance surely wowed the guests and the media, and it only solidified their status as OPM artists even further. From the day they became a group up to this date, SB19 remained true to its goal of bringing Filipino music to the world, and they are slowly achieving it. As long as they keep their feet on the ground and their eyes on their dreams, anything is possible.

From their song What?, to their legendary AAA performance, and now this recent performance, these five undeniably talented Filipinos have been carrying the Philippine flag with love and pride. They are one of the gems we Filipinos can proudly call SARILING ATIN.
