GENTO
Do you know why this website is fund of writing blogs about SB19 and Pablo? Mainly because there are a lot to unpack about them, especially about their songs. None of the songs in their discography was made for the sake of making songs or capitalizing their hype. Some entertainers, especially nowadays, would release songs for the sake of fame. Many of the music lovers nowadays believe that the quality of music has dwindled, and I can't say their wrong.
With the existence of auto tune, AI, and all the engineered sound effects out there, the true soul of the song has been stripped down. Not that there's anything with using tools to make things easier for us, as long as human touch, the soul of the art remains intact. There are only a few people in the music industry that can keep the heart and soul of their music. This is despite all the manufacturing that goes on behind recorded versions we listen to. Would you believe if I say that five of those few are in one group?
From their first EP, Get In The Zone, up to their last EP to date, every song they've ever released are all meaning songs that tell real stories about life, dreams, and struggles. They've always been shining stars that aim to guide their listeners and supporters into the right path. Their global hit, Gento, is another example of their excellent musicality.
I want some, I get some, no later
I woke up and baked that potato
Got carbed to shape me for major
But I stay me, not mediocre
Look at me, tell me what you see
All Gucci? But the real question is, "Who's really me?"
A movie's definitely not my reality
'Cause you see, "Marumi, marumi, marumi"
Ewww, kadiri
The first verse is a statement from someone who has had enough. It's the realization that confirming to the expectations of the world will never satisfy one's heart. He learned that being a go-getter and not caring about what the world would say is the way to freedom. As long as you're not hurting anyone, you don't have to hold yourself back. You can remain as yourself while unleashing your full potential. But there's always a story behind every success. You need to compromise some things about you in order to please people, even when you don't want to, but the secret is to never lose yourself in the process. You can remember who you are and hold to it.
Yeah, I'm gonna see you later (Later)
Pagkatapos kong mag-shower (Shower)
The pre-chorus is all about the people who had been trying to pull them down. Trust me, there is no shortage of those people. All they can do is to persevere and brave through everything. They know how to deal with haters because they've learned it along the way. One can only guess how much these five people had to sacrifice and all the heartaches they had to go through. Gento is not just a song of inspiration but a statement to their haters that no matter what they do, SB19 will always come out on top better and stronger.
Gento, gento
'Di 'to basta-basta bingo
Need mo makumpleto parang bento
Gento, ano, kaya mo?
Pilit na hinukay ang bumbunan
Makakita lang ng ginto, ginto
Kahit na wala pang hinto ciento por ciento
Bawat bitaw ko, mismo, 'eto kaya mo?
'Di ka basta-basta makakakita ng gento
This chorus is a lesson that to do great things, one must not settle. Limitations are just beliefs set by our fears and insecurities. A human mind is limitless, and nobody alive has ever been able to maximize it's full capacity. We can be unstoppable when we want to. All we have to do is keep pushing, continue to explore, and believe that we can achieve great things. Hardships are part of our lives, but we should never allow it hold us down. We are stronger than any trials this world could throw at us.
'Di ko na kailangan lumunok ng bato
Hindi mala-Darna 'to, aandar ang makina ko
Tanging mekaniko ay ako, 'la nang moni moniko
Sa daming pinagdaanan, nagpatong na'ng istori ko
Usyoso mga chismoso, halika't pumanhik na rito, uh
'Di naman talaga madali, aminin ko pa man o hindi
Sa likod ng mga tagong paghikbi, kayamanan kong hapdi
Panis 'to, laging alisto, kahit pa si Mephisto
Tiklop 'pag nag-beast mode na bihis ko
No rush I can do this all day (No rush)
Twenty-four mentality like Kobe (Mamba)
The harder I work, the harder I play
SB19 is a group like no other. They are self-sufficient, complete package, and incredibly talented. There really is no boxing them because they are all limitless. Directing their own or other's music videos? No problem. Writing their own songs? Easy-peasy. Singing? They live vocal monsters. Dancing? They are all dance machines. Rapping? How dope do you want it? They have positions, roles in the group that they embraced well, but if needed, they can switch role as easy as blinking. That is how powerful they are as a group and as individuals.

Gento is one of the most artistically written song there is. From the local and foreign references Pablo used to the double entendre and world plays, this song has more than one message depending on who was listening. That is how you can tell something is a masterpiece. It tickles the brain and evokes emotions, inspires people, and speaks to the heart of the one listening. To those who are struggling with their individuality, this song gives the push they need, and for those who are in a dark place for all the pain and discouragements this world has brought them, Gento is a fight song. No matter who you are, all you have to do is listen and this song will give you exactly what you need.

This part of Ken is testament to who they are. Ordinary people with extraordinary dreams and hearts bigger than this world. They know what they want and they will keep on fighting despite all the negativities thrown on them. Regardless of the time and place, they can show their skills and talents honed over years of hard work and perseverance. They were never given anything in a silver platter. They had to literally sweat and bleed to achieve everything they have now, and no one, I repeat no one will ever take their success away. Why? Their success is their story. It's how they inspire people, and how people will remember them. They will be immortal.
