A'tin: A Guide For Babies

Hi, Baby A'tin! Welcome to the famdom! Yes, famdom, because A'tin is not just a fandom. We're family! You're probably feeling overwhelmed with all the videos, Showbreak episodes, terminologies, and events you must keep up with, but don't fret! We got you.

Let this guide you regarding some commonly used terminologies you would encounter many times. Of course, always remember that you can ask any A'tin out there questions. We are just OA (that's overacting/exaggerated, by the way) but always willing to help a baby A'tin. For starters, the term Ninong/Ninang. For international A'tin, these words literally translate to Godmother/Godfather in English and are used to address SB19's brand partners and those they endorse. Now that we have that out of the way, let's begin with what the fandom name means.

In the beginning, SB19 fans didn't have an official fandom name, so most of them called themselves Aurum, which means gold. For a while, that became the fandom's name until the boys finally decided on what name they wanted to give to their fans. A'tin was the name Sejun/Pablo thought of, and here's a bit of a backstory.

A'tin, pronounced as eighteen, is 1. The A in A'tin is a nod to the first group of people who supported SB19 when they were just starting. They were the first to scream their name, come to their events, and love them. In a family line, they are our ancestors; 2. For international fans, A'tin is also derived from a Filipino word, Atin (pronounced as ah-teen), which means ours in English. Because for SB19, all the trials and successes are ours. 3. there will be no SB19 for the boys if there is no A'tin, just like the number 19 won't exist without the number 18.

Touched? We know, it got us, too. :(

Post from Erin Twitter (X)

Next on the list is the word MAHALIMA, a word invented by an A'tin named Erin on Twitter (X). As she explained, MAHALIMA is like mahalina in Filipino or fascinating/appealing in English. It also combines MAHAL (LOVE) and LIMA (FIVE). So, it basically means we love them five, and the five of them love us. Interesting, right? Here's another one: Menpa. It sounds Japanese, we know, but it actually means MENtion PArty when SB19 Official or the boys posted something that calls for conversations with the fans.

If you have time, you can visit A'tin Dictionary on Twitter (X)

And there's the term Ambag or contribute, which refers to the hashtags the fanbases post and ask other A'tin to use in order to make the hashtag trend. So, when you see a tweet on X saying "drop tags" or "ambag tags", we assure you, at the bottom of that tweet is a set of hashtags to use. You probably wonder why you see posts saying they are Freezer, Farm, Poultry/Manukan, Maisan, and Ihawan. Confusing, right? Well, those are each member's individual Fan House. SB19 Josh loves barbecue, so his fans are called BBQs, and their Fan House is called Ihawan. The bunso of the group, SB19 Justin, always has funny jokes. Right, mga Mais? So, his fans were called Mais, which is corn in English, and in Filipino slang, when someone calls you corny, it means your joke was not that funny. Oops! Their Fan House is called Maisan, by the way.

Then, there is our heavenly voice, SB19 Stell, who loves strawberries so much that his fans are called Berries/Presa, and their Fan House is called Farm because that's where we can find strawberries! Our sexiest main dancer, SB19 Ken, loves Chicken Joy, so his fans are called Sisiws, and their Fan House is called Poultry or Manukan. Last is our Pinuno, who loves hotdogs so much that his fans are called Hatdogs, and well, where will you see hotdogs if not in the Freezer? It's not just the fans who love inventing words in this family. Ken and Justin invented the words Dipaphy Hartby, which is the jumbled version of Happy Birthday on one of the member's birthday celebrations. We will not spoil you, of course.

You might also encounter Lumang Tao and Bagong Tao, which refer to Old Fans (Lumang Tao) and New Fans (Bagong Tao). Also, if you see someone saying SLMT to another person, whether on social media or in person during SB19 events, that's from an SB19 song titled SLMT, which is their thanks to us, their fans. You would encounter other terms along the way, but these are the more frequently used. You are always welcome to come back here or ask other A'tin questions. Welcome to the famdom, and enjoy!

SLMT for visiting!
